Foam pigs and are used in swabbing, de-watering and pipeline cleaning within all industries that make use of pipelines for manufacturing or delivering products. Also known as poly pigs or foamies, foam pigs are manufactured using flexible, open-cell polyurethane foam. Typically moulded into a single piece, pigs can have varying densities. Denser pipe pigs will offer better performance and wear. Foam pigs are available in varying sizes, and it is important to choose the correct size for the pipeline in which it is being used. Pipe pigs can be manufactured according to the requirements of the pipe in which they will be used, and can contain attachments or protrusions, such as magnets, gauge plates, tow loops and transmitter housing. Some polyurethane pipe pigs can be fitted with different types of brushes to suit the applications and specific client specifications. In some cases, these lightweight pipe pigs may require special handling and cleaning, as they may be coated in the product which was cleaned out of the pipeline.
